The following is a message from Information Technology to all freshman students and has been approved by the IT Executive group:<\/strong><\/p>\n

¸£ÀûÀíÂ× Information Technology (MUIT) is working to consolidate all users\u2019 UserPrincipalName (UPN) and primary email addresses to be user@marshall.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n

If you are receiving this email communication it is because either your UserPrincipalName is currently in the format of user@live.marshall.edu<\/a> or your primary email address is user@live.marshall.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n

What is happening?<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Monday, November 15, 2021<\/strong>, MUIT will be converting your UserPrincipalName (username used to log in to Marshall resources) from user@live.marshall.edu<\/a> to the new format of user@Marshall.edu<\/a>. \u00a0During this conversion process, if your current email address is in the format of user@live.marshall.edu<\/a> that will also be converted to the preferred format of user@marshall.edu<\/a>. \u00a0\u00a0We will make sure to retain your user@live.marshall.edu<\/a> email address as a secondary address on your email account so that you can still receive email addressed to that address but from the conversion date forward all of your new outbound email will be addressed in the format of user@marshall.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n

How will this affect me?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The UserPrincipalName conversion should be essentially seamless to most users other than when logging into resources moving forward you will use the new format of the username as user@marshall.edu<\/a>.\u00a0 Most email clients should automatically convert and adjust to the new UPN and Email address change without having to be reconfigured.\u00a0 However, if you experience any issue sending or receiving email, the easiest fix would be to remove the email profile from your email client (on your computer and\/or phone) and then add it back using the new user@marshall.edu<\/a> format.<\/p>\n

What action do I need to take?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mail:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0(disclaimer:\u00a0 even though most of the below listed email clients should not need to be reconfigured, depending on how or which protocol your account was initially added, you may still need to remove and re-add your email p<\/em>rofile to get mail to work after the change<\/em>)<\/p>\n
